I went and saw "Tinker. Tailor, Soldier, Spy" this afternoon, and I liked it quite a bit.   The book is one of my favorites (and for my money, the best spy novel ever), and I had seen on DVD the 70's miniseries.

I have several problems with that one.  Alec Guiness (while a brilliant actor, tis a shame most know him now as only "Obi K") was too old for the part by about 20 years.  That and the producer, director and screenwriter focused on the story as a bloodless whodunit.  When in fact, if you read the book,, it's about the dehumanizing consequences of betrayal (as most Le Carre books are).

While the movie could not get every line in the book in, it did get that right, which is more important.  And the cast was to a man, perfect.

Gary Oldman more than makes up for being miscast as S Black in the HP movies (again too old), here, and reminds you just how good he can be.

On a different note, I am RPing again after a year away, and I'm liking it a lot.  It's a next gen game where I am playing Neville's son, and Michael Corner's daughter.

Moving on,

Time to start cooking.  beginning with Roasted Tomoato soup.
