I have ordered 3 books online as a reward to myself for not bitchslapping this witch at work. She is a trainer. Not my supervisor, a trainer. She is also responsible for e-mail templates that we are to use. In the past 2 weeks, the titles of certain job positions have changed. There was a blackout in e-mails while that change was goling on.
Did she update the templates during that time? No.
Do we have on file e-mail from her stating we were not to alter the templates or create our own in any way? You bet.
So I sent an email with the prescribed template. Template had old job title. I got an email back from the recipient asking why the old job title was there. I explained we were required to use the template and that they had not been updated.
Trainer comes to me an hour later saying "We've had complaints about you sending e-mails with the old job titles".
I replied that we were required to use the templates.
She said "You iknow the job titles have changed, you should know better, you should have changed them on the e-mail, if the templates need to be adjusted we will do so, but you should have changed it, Now we have complaints that I am having to address."
Duh. She was having to address them as she was getting questions about why she didn't update them during the 2 week blackout.
I was livid. LIVID.
SHe is not my boss. and had no business reprimanding me. I did bring it to my boss and pointed out that the trainer should have brought any questions regarding my performance to her for my boss to address with me. That is the protocol. I also pointed out that we had email on file from the trainer telling us not to change the template. ANd that she had 2 weeks to update them and did not so.
I requested my boss address the issue as it was 1. Inappropriate for the trainer to reprimand me. 2. The trainer should have changed the templates while we were in 'blackout'. 3. If she was not going to change the templates she should have communicated beforehand it was alright for us to do so, rather than reprimanding me after the fact for following her instructions.
2 hours later we got a e-mail that the trainer would be out of the office for the rest of the day and the next 2.
Suspended, obv, for good reason. We've had this sort of run in with her before. As in she came to a co-worker and I who were discussing a work issue and asked "Is your work done? You shoudn't be gossiping if it's not, not on company time." We were not gossiping, we were discussing an issue, work-related issue, which she would have heard had she been listening and not jumped to conclusions.
We both complained and it was addressed as 1. it was work related and she accused us of something we weren't doing. 2. She is not our boss, if we had been in the wrong the process is to report it to our supervisor for the supervisor to deal with.
So as my reward for behaving professionaly when she did not, I have ordered three books.
